On Thursday January 8, 2009 the Ontario Trillium Foundation will present the Community Arts and Heritage Education Project (CAHEP) with a significant donation to be used for the Arts Education in Your Community inititiative.
Federal MPs Bill Mauro and Michael Gravelle, together with Donna Gilhooly, associate Vice-Chair of the Trillium Foundation, will be presenting a plaque to the President of CAHEP Board Fhara Pottinger, in commemoration of this significant investment in Arts Education in Northern Ontario.
CAHEP is partnering with 15 communities in Northwestern and Northeastern Ontario to bring workshops, seminars, program development models, strategies and collaborative partnering methods in arts education that will ensure the communities are left with practical skills in the field of arts education. This in turn will enable, enhance and increase arts education projects, programs and events within these communities and promote a stronger appreciation for and awareness of arts education, arts heritage, and the culture sector. The 15 communities will benefit through a stronger arts education, arts and heritage sector that will lead to greater support from the townships and municipalities towards the creative sector.
This donation from the Ontario Trillium Foundation will enable the Arts Education in Your Community initiative to begin collaborating and reaching out to partner communities in the North.
