Garth O'Neill is an integral part of Weilers Labour and Employment Law team, having advised Management of many leading industrial and public sector organizations throughout Northwestern Ontario for more than a decade.  Equally importantly, Garth serves many smaller companies and service sector clients, and also represents individuals in disputes with their employers.  He regularly represents management in contract negotiations and appears as counsel before Labour Relations Board and Arbitrators, as well as in Workplace Safety and Insurance, Employment Standards, and Occupational Health and Safety proceedings.

Garth believes in building strong long-term relationships with clients.  He is known for both his expertise and his accessibility, regularly travelling throughout the area to serve his clients in their communities.  He often appears as a speaker and panellist at Labour and Employment Law seminars in Thunder Bay and the region.

Garth received his LL.B. from Queen's University and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1991.  He has practiced at Weilers since that time and was admitted to the partnership in 1996.   Garth has been certified by The Law Society of Upper Canada as a Specialist in Labour Law.

Garth has completed comprehensive advanced training in facilitative mediation through the Stitt, Feld, Handy Group in Toronto, and adds this mediation service to the long list of services he offers his clients.

Garth is currently the Vice-President of the Thunder Bay Branch of the Queen’s University Alumni Association, a Director of the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium, and a past Warden of St. John’s Anglican Church.  Garth is a longstanding member of the Human Resources Professionals Association of Northwestern Ontario.
