The 2010 Thunder Bay Arts & Heritage Awards were held on Tuesday, June 15 at Magnus Theatre, to recognize local individuals and groups who have played an important role in developing culture in Thunder Bay. Twenty-six nominees were honoured at the awards event.
Weiler Maloney Nelson was proud to sponsor the Emerging Youth Artist Award this year. This award recognizes an individual 20 years of age or under who has begun to develop a body of work in preparation/or pursuit of a professional career in the arts.
Fhara Pottinger, associate lawyer at Weilers and Chair for the Community Arts & Heritage Education Project (CAHEP) presented this year's award to Brandi Fiala at the awards ceremony, Tuesday night. Brandi is an emerging artist and student at Westgate Collegiate & Vocational Institute. Brandi has been chosen to display her art at the annual High School Art Show at the Thunder Bay Art Gallery for the past three years. Brandi’s unique artistic style is remarkable at her age, and she is admired by her peers, teachers, and viewers at gallery exhibits as an exceptional and memorable emerging artist.
