KDMA Annual Conference

February 7, 2018

The Township of Ear Falls hosted the Annual Kenora District Municipal Association (KDMA) Conference from February 1-3, 2018, where local leaders in the Kenora District gathered over the weekend. Delegates from municipalities came together to discuss issues and priorities concerning their Northwestern Ontario communities, including infrastructure deficits, the proposed one per cent HST increase, health-care, the upcoming legalization of marijuana and much more.

Weilers’ Chantelle Bryson made a presentation concerning Bill 148 to the attendees at this Annual Conference. On June 1, 2017, the Ontario government introduced Bill 148, the Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act, 2017 (Bill 148), its highly anticipated response to the Final Report from the Changing Workplaces Review. Bill 148 introduces a range of changes to the Employment Standards Act, 2000 (ESA) and the Labour Relations Act, 1995 (LRA) - something all employers need to be aware of. Her presentation was well-received by one and all.

This event has been running for 77 years.
